Klosterdestillation St. Josef

Modern and open: The Catholic order of the Marist Brothers in Furth Monastery near Landshut is looking to the future and has cultivated a new, sustainable form of monastic community – in addition to the community of Marist School Brothers, the monastery grounds are home to a high school, seminar and training center, the St. Josef monastery distillery and the Further Klosterbrauerei with the Klosterbräustüberl. For the show brewery and distillery, which will be reopened in 2020, Panoorama has designed an informative and emotional exhibition after extensive and detailed research. Using original documents, photographs and exhibits, visitors are immersed in the eventful history of the Marist Order – in the world and at the Furth location. In the schnapps distillery with its fragrant herb chamber, visitors learn all about the production and marketing of the monastery schnapps Arquebuse, Maristiner and Hermite, which are produced according to centuries-old secret recipes, and can also taste them afterwards. The highlight of the exhibition is a 12-part ceiling installation that brings the blue and gold Marist coat of arms to life. Only when viewed from a very specific point do the parts come together to form a whole, and it can be seen in its entirety – a modern interpretation of a baroque trompe-l’Œil. Very much in the spirit of the Marists, who skillfully combine tradition and the future.
